Rotation diet: permissible variations
The Rotation Diet permits some variations that make it possible for persons who have trouble sticking with low-calorie diets to use it and still be very successful. I include these variations because some women may need to have a little more food than the basic 600/900-calorie rotation allows in order to avoid feeling empty at certain times of the day. The same goes for men who may find it difficult to stick exactly to 1200 calories. If you are such a person, you need to know what you can do without appreciable damage to your efforts. Other persons, such as nervous nibblers or persons who find themselves on a food expedition the moment they have nothing particularly demanding to do and begin to feel a little bored, also need to have something to fall back on as a snack that will not hurt the overall effectiveness of the diet.
Here are the permissible deviations that allow the diet to remain effective. These deviations include the use of free vegetables and a safe fruit. Together they constitute your insurance policy. Our research shows that women who include some of the permitted deviations may lose, on the average, only half a pound a day, but they still end up with a loss of 10 1/2 pounds in twenty-one days. Be sure to follow these directions so that you can adhere to the plan for the full three weeks with the least damaging deviations, no matter what happens!
